About this stone
Brown Cross takes its name from the cross-grain cut — chestnut banding running at an angle across a jet-black ground.
The diagonal banding gives slabs a sense of motion that works particularly well on vertical surfaces and island fronts. Because the cut is consistent across the block, adjacent slabs can be sequenced to continue the banding across a wall.
